Typewriter push ups
Typewriter push ups are a horizontal, side-to-side variation of a wide push up. With a wide grip, lower your chest toward one hand, shift your body across in a controlled motion while staying close to the ground, and then press back up on the opposite side. The movement mimics the left-to-right motion of an old typewriter, increasing time under tension and placing greater load on each arm individually.
There’s a short video demonstrating this exercise on this page. For more resources to help your calisthenics journey, check out courses here.
